Black Victorian Fan

ITEM NUMBER: VE541

This fan is truly a treasure! May have been a mourning fan as it is done entirely in black with tiny metal applied disks scattered throughout. It only measures 5 1/2″ tall and about 7″ wide (when opened). Each fan stick is etched. This fan was probably worn on a chatelaine or hung from a belt as indicated by the metal O-ring. The entire fan has been hand stitched and stitching has come loose in some areas and should be reinforced. The shear netting has a few minor tears which does not detract from the fan.

Early Fan/Fold sequinsITEM NUMBER: VEC175

This fan is so delicate and elegant! The ends and sticks are carved wood. The predominate material is black with a 1″ wide strip of clear net about 3/4 of the way up. The top edge is also done in black. The great part about this fan is the sequin adornments. There are gold sequins scattered through the fan. In addition to round sequins, there are also oval and snowflake shaped sequins. Very pretty indeed! The material is fragile but intact. There are some sequins missing, but the majority are still intact. The fan measures 8″ tall and 10″ wide. A brass holder is attached to the bottom of the fan.

1800’s Wood/Cloth Folding FanITEM NUMBER: MBK014

This simple fan has wooden handles (looks like they may be covered with leather) and a tan colored cloth for the actual fan. The story is that this fan dates to the 1800’s and originally came from Oklahoma. The fan has brass tips on the end of the handles and a swing clip which holds the handles closed. The material looks to be an unbleached cotton. The fan does show wear on the handles, but otherwise it is in very good condition. The fan measures 8 1/2″ long (when closed) and 9″ in diameter when opened
